WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Lynn women's basketball team won its second straight conference road game after taking down the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, 57-51, Wednesday night. Lynn got off to a quick start and never looked back, leading for the entire game. Carly Stroemel led the way for the Fighting Knights, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Fighting Knights move to 9-7 overall this season and 4-4 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ella Fiore opened up the scoring for the Fighting Knights, scoring a layup after forcing a turnover on a steal
- Trinity Mocadlo sunk her first basket of the night to push the Fighting Knights lead to four with 8:00 left in the first quarter, 6-2
- A jumper from Stroemel gave the Fighting Knights a seven-point lead, 12-5, with 6:03 left in the first
- Fiore's jump shot stretched the Fighting Knights lead to eight, 17-9, with three minutes left in the first
- Stroemel converted an and-1 layup to begin the second quarter
- A jumper from Fiore halfway through the second stretched the Lynn lead to 11, 24-13
- Channing Chappell sunk two free throws in the final seconds of the half to take a 28-15 lead into the break
- Makayla Hemingway scored from beyond the arc to stretch the lead back to 11, 33-22, with 7:14 left in the third
- Palm Beach Atlantic managed to get back in the game, going on an 11-2 run
- Marianna Klavina opened the lead back up to eight, scoring from three-point range, with 1:14 left in the third quarter
- Chappell sunk a three to give the Fighting Knights a 10-point lead with 6:00 left in the game
- The Sailfish went on a run and trailed by four with 31 seconds left in the fourth
- Chappell sealed the victory for the Fight Knights with a free throw to end the game

- The Fighting Knights led for the entirety of the game
- Both Lynn and PBA had 16 turnovers and 8 steals
- The Fighting Knights bench outscored the Sailfish 16-0
- Stroemel posted her first double-double of the season and set season highs in points (18) and rebounds (10)
