Lynn drops home matchup with No. 6 Nova Southeastern

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's basketball team endured a 109-93 setback at home on Wednesday to No. 6 Nova Southeastern. Sophomore Nordin Kapic led the Fighting Knights with 23 points as they are now 12-6 overall and 7-5 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Sharks are 16-2 overall (9-2 in SSC).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- The Fighting Knights shot 43% (30-of-70) compared to Nova's 50% (44-of-88)
- Lynn took an initial 3-0 lead behind a three-pointer from graduate Tradavis Thompson
- Nova rebounded behind a 10-0 run for a quick 10-3 lead at 16:51, a lead they never relinquished
- Thompson and graduate Jamison Evans hit back-to-back threes to cut the deficit to 16-13
- The Sharks increased their edge to 14 just beyond the midway point of the first half
- The visitors pushed their lead to 15 points on several occasions late in the first and led 57-46 at the break
- Thompson led the Fighting Knights with 13 points in the first half
- Evans and Kapic were tied with 10 points apiece at the half
- Kapic opened the second half with a basket that cut the score to 57-48
- Ryan Davis hit two free throws as Nova's lead swelled to 21, 76-55 at 14:40
- The Sharks kept their lead around the 20-point mark for the remainder of the evening
- Evans hit a three-pointer at 10:24 as Lynn pulled to within 19, 89-70
- Thompson hit a jumper and sophomore Rickey Ballard hit a corner three as the Fighting Knights pulled to within 107-91 with under a minute to play
- Nova's MJ Iraldi had a game-high of 30 points
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Five Lynn players finished in double figures
- Lynn had 47 rebounds compared to Nova's 44 and both teams finished with 18 on the offensive glass
- Kapic connected on seven baskets with eight free throws and seven rebounds
- Thompson finished with 22 points and five assists
- Ballard scored 16 points, Evans added 12 and graduate Brad McCabe scored 12 points with six rebounds
- Ballard and graduate Ben Gahlert tied with a game-high nine rebounds
- Sophomore Jalen Gilmore added a team-best six assists
