BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw in Saturday's Sunshine State Conference matchup against Saint Leo.
McKenna Gardner scored her first goal of season to help the Fighting Knights earn another conference point.
The Fighting Knights are now 4-5-4 overall and 2-2-4 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gardner took Lynn's first shot of the game in the 32nd minute
- Her shot aimed for the bottom right of the net but was saved by Saint Leo goalkeeper Hannah Goetzer
- In the following play, the Fighting Knights broke through the Saint Leo defense
- Geiges passed the ball across the penalty area where Gardner calmly slotted it past the keeper at the 33rd-minute mark to give Lynn a 1-0 lead
- The two teams shared three shots a piece at the end of the first half
- Saint Leo equalized with a goal in the 52nd minute, 1-1
- The Fighting Knights closed out the game with two shots that forced saves from Goetzer in the 84th and 87th minutes
