WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Lynn women's soccer team fell in the first round of the SSC tournament to Rollins 5-4 in penalty kicks on Monday night. Lynn overcame two deficits to send the match to overtime, where neither team was able to score over two 10-minute extra frames.
Kira Adkins and Julianna Torres scored in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rollins took a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match
- Less than five minutes later, Lynn tied the match at the 7:30 mark
- On a deflection, Adkins took a drive from 25 yards out that soared past the diving goalie into the top right corner of the goal, 1-1
- The Tars took the lead in the 25th minute, 2-1
- Lynn ended the half outshooting Rollins, 3-2
- A shot from the Tars in the 48th minute was blocked by
Savannah Larsen

Saga Jontoft took a shot from outside the penalty area but went over the bar
- The Fighting Knights got the equalizing goal in the 68
th minute
- On a cross from
Francesca Brito, Torres took a touch and struck the ball on her right foot and scored top-left off the keepers' fingertips from 25 yards out and sent Lynn into overtime, 2-2
- In the first 10-minute overtime period, Auth made a save from a cross whipped inside and
Addison Crone cleared it away from danger
- After the two overtime periods, the game went to kicks from the mark where Jontoft,
Riley Casey,
Emma Geiges and
Addison Crone all scored
- However, Rollins won the game on penalty kicks 5-4
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Adkins scored her first goal of the season
- Torres contributed to both goals on the night with her second goal and assist this year
- She had two shots on goal in the game, bringing her total to 12 this season
