BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University volleyball dropped its second match of the season, a five-set thriller, to Florida Tech on Saturday afternoon (24-26, 25-23, 14-25, 25-15, 17-19). Each team had match points in the deciding set, as the Fighting Knights drop to 20-2 overall and 10-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Maria Cecilia Pinho opened the scoring for Lynn with two kills as Lynn went up 4-1 in the first set
- A pair of kills by
Fabia Gonzalez Stanton and
Samantha Wolf, as well as one by
Ula Gorjup, sparked a 6-1 run and 19-15 advantage for Lynn
- FT defended four set points to finish the set on a 6-0 run, winning 26-24
- The Panthers led 12-8 in the second set before Lynn used a 5-0 run to take the lead
- 10 ties and four lead changes occurred afterwards
- The Panthers took a 23-22 lead, but Lynn finished the set with three straight points with help from a kill by
Aline Olegario and an ace from Gorjup to tie the match, one set to one
- Tech opened the third set on a 9-3 run and didn't look back for a 25-14 win
- Lynn retaliated with a dominant fourth set, outhitting Florida Tech .361 to .125

Hope Passerello posted two kills during an 8-2 run to open the set
- Wolf then added three kills and an ace during a 5-1 run, as Lynn's lead ballooned to 14-5
- Three more kills by Wolf and one by Pinho finished off the set, 25-15
- The Fighting Knights and Panthers went the distance and more in the fifth set
- FT led 5-2 before Lynn went on a 7-1 run, highlighted by an ace by
Joelle Alexander and kill by
Jazzy Innis
- Tech went on a 6-2 run to lead 13-12
- Innis had two kills to tie the set, with one negating match point
- Each team fought off match points before the Panthers rallied with four of the last five points and a 19-17 win in the clinching fifth set
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Wolf posted her fifth straight double-double with 23 kills (season high) and 13 digs
- Passerello dished out 54 assists and has 109 assists in her two matches against FT this season
- Pinho has recorded double digit kills in nine of her last 12 matches
