Lynn set to play Charleston in College Cup final

MATTHEWS, N.C. – The No. 2 seed Lynn University men's soccer team will face No. 1 seed University of Charleston (22-1-1) in the NCAA Division II National Championship match on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C. Both teams are among the best in the country, with Lynn seeking its fourth national title and Charleston vying for its third.

Fighting Knight Notes: 
- Lynn boasts the best record in the nation at 19-0-2, with a winning percentage of .952 
- The Fighting Knights, ranked 11th in the nation in total goals (51), remain undefeated this season and are appearing in their fourth NCAA final as an unbeaten team (1991, 1993, 2003) 
- Lynn is ranked third nationally in shutout percentage (.571), with 12 clean sheets in 21 matches 
- Goalkeeper Luca Clavero is the top-ranked goalkeeper in Division II, leading the nation with a goals-against average of .519 and ranking second in shutouts this season with 12 
- Clavero and defender Henry Haferkorn are two-time All-Americans this year, earning honors from both the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches 
- Luis Kiefer came off the bench in the semifinal against McKendree and made a decisive impact, recording three shots, one goal, and one assist 
- Fabian Vyhnalek, who also scored and assisted in the semifinal, leads the team in shots (55) and shots on target (29) while ranking 11th nationally in total assists (12)
- Head coach John Rootes is seeking his third national title with Lynn and is undefeated in the NCAA finals, having previously guided the team to championships in 2012 and 2014 

Opponent Spotlight – Charleston (WV): 
- Charleston, ranked No. 1 in the country in goal differential (+49), has scored 66 goals this season while allowing just 17 
- The Golden Eagles are ranked fourth nationally in shutout percentage (.542), just behind Lynn 
- Joao Belmudes leads the team with 13 goals and seven assists, followed by Jack Kay (11 goals, 4 assists) and Caio Moraes (10 goals, 5 assists) 
- Midfielders Joao Silva and Michail Tselios have a combined 12 assists 
- Goalkeeper Nicolai Gundersen has recorded eight shutouts and has been a key figure in Charleston's defensive success
