SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Lynn volleyball is headed to its first-ever National Title match after defeating Bentley in straight sets (25-21, 25-15, 25-18) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. on Friday night.
The Fighting Knights hit .342 in the win and had four players either post double-digit kills or double-digit digs, including individual double-double performances by
Fabia Gonzalez Stanton and
Samantha Wolf (11 kills, 11 digs each), while
Isabella Gentile had a double-double of her own (10 assists, 17 digs).
With one match remaining, Lynn sits at 32-3 heading into its finals bout with No. 7 San Francisco State tomorrow.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1: Lynn, 25-21
- Lynn had 20 kills in the opening set

Ula Gorjup began the match with an ace

Fabia Gonzalez Stanton and
Aline Olegario had back-to-back kills for a 5-3 Lynn lead
- Bentley took a two-point lead at 12-10
- Stanton's kill and ace tied the set at 14
- The Fighting Knights trailed 21-18 after a Bentley run
- The Blue and White went on a 7-0 run to take the first set, as Stanton posted two kills during the stretch and Gorjup ended it with a kill
Set 2: Lynn, 25-15

Maria Cecilia Pinho had three kills during a 3-1 run for an 11-8 score

Set 3: Lynn, 25-18
- Bentley opened up a 5-1 lead
- Alexander's ace brought Lynn within two, 8-6
- Consecutive kills by Stanton, Olegario and Cecilia Pinho gave Lynn its first lead of the set, 12-11
- Down one, the Fighting Knights went on a crucial 6-0 run as Olegario was involved in three blocks during the streak
- Two Wolf kills and a Gorjup ace guided a 4-0 run for match point at 24-17
- A service error clinched the match for a three-set win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn hit over .300 in each set and totaled 50 kills
- Olegario hit .500 with 10 kills and four blocks
- Gorjup delivered 31 assists, two aces and five kills on .833 hitting

- Wolf has at least 10 kills in 16 of her last 18 matches
- Stanton has at least 10 digs in 10 of her last 11 matches
- Alexander has two aces in both of her NCAA Tournament matches in Sioux Falls
- Gentile posted a season-high 10 assists
- Lynn has won 11 in a row and has swept three of its five NCAA Tournament matches
