Fighting Knights dominate in conference road win against Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – Lynn men's basketball dominated conference rival Tampa, winning 91-69 on Saturday evening. Leo Beath led the Blue and White with 21 points, shooting 9-for-22 from the field and adding 11 rebounds.  
The Fighting Knights are now 5-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play. 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Carson Smith knocked down his first shot from beyond the arc to open the scoring for the Fighting Knights 
- Beath found Sveinn Birgisson for another Fighting Knights bucket, putting the score at 8-4 
- JP Baron grabbed an offensive board and scored a layup to stretch the lead to eight 
- Jordan Wilkins scored the next eight points for Lynn, opening a 27-10 lead 
- A forced turnover by Austin Vick led to a Birgisson layup as the Fighting Knights led by 23 with 6:18 left in the first half 
- Vick's layup off a Tampa turnover pushed the score to 46-23 
- Tampa closed the half on a nine-point run with the score at 46-32 
- Beath slammed down a dunk to open the second half for the Blue and White 
- Osei Price and Braydon Iuli both hit their three-point attempts amid a 12-2 Fighting Knights run, pushing the lead back to 23 
- Smith forced a steal, leading to a fastbreak three from Baron to put Lynn up by 24 
- A steal and a slam from Price put the score at 86-56 with 5:26 left in the game 
- Baron's layup sealed the victory for the Fighting Knights, 91-69
FIGHTING KNIGHTS STATS: 
- Six Fighting Knights scored in double digits 
- Beath is averaging 17.0 PPG and 7.8 RPG 
- Smith's four-made threes are tied for the most in a game this season 
- Lynn set a new team high, draining 14 threes and recording 27 assists 
- Lynn has now made at least 10 three-pointers in seven of its eight contests
