Lynn wins by 17 on Knight’s 20 and 14 double-double

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Jess Knight scored 20 points with 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal as Lynn defeated Shaw 74-57 in its opening game of the Lynn Holiday Classic on Saturday.

The Fighting Knights trailed by one in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter but ended the game on a 25-7 run to improve to 6-4 this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Knight's turnaround jumper gave Lynn its first lead at 4-3
- Knight's steal led to a Danielle Montelbano fastbreak layup and 8-5 Lynn lead
- Trinity Mocadlo's driving layup was created by Makayla Hemingway's steal
- Hemingway then assisted Montelbano's and-one for a 15-9 Blue and White lead
- Hemingway's three-pointer put Lynn up by nine
- Channing Chappell knocked in a three-pointer for the Fighting Knights' first double-digit lead, 26-16
- Lynn held the Lady Bears to just 2-for-21 shooting in the second quarter, outscoring them 13-6
- Knight grabbed an offensive board and made the put-back for a 28-18 advantage
- Knight's free throw gave Lynn a 15-point lead with 4:04 remaining in the first half
- Chappell and Rachel Romich hit back-to-back threes for a score of 39-22 as Lynn would eventually head to the break up by 15
- Ella Fiore stole a Shaw pass and found a streaking Montelbano for a layup to start the third quarter for Lynn's largest lead at 17, 41-27
- Shaw went 4-for-5 from three and outscored the Fighting Knights 24-8 for the remainder of the quarter
- A layup on the first possession of the final frame gave Shaw its first lead since the 6:47 mark of the first quarter, 50-49
- Mocadlo's steal led to a bucket by Fiore to get the lead right back, starting an 8-0 Lynn run
- Mocadlo's three gave the Fighting Knights a 62-54 lead with 3:30 remaining in regulation
- Hemingway drained a three following a steal and pass from Montelbano
- Nine free throws finalized a 74-57 win

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:

- Knight recorded her third double-double of the season and is averaging 16.1 ppg and 8.3 rpg
- Montelbano had six points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals in the fourth quarter
- Hemingway went 2-for-4 from beyond the arc
- Karishma Ortiz added five points, two rebounds and a block in just five minutes and is now 5-for-7 from three-point range this season
- Lynn was 23-for-27 (85.2%) at the free throw line and 13-for-14 (92.9%) in the fourth quarter
- 18 of Lynn's 22 field goals were assisted
- The Fighting Knights led for nearly 37 minutes in the win
- The Blue and White set a season high with 46 total rebounds
- Lynn held its opponent to a season low 29.9% shooting percentage
