Lynn sets scoring milestone in dominant victory over Trinity Baptist

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Lynn University's men's basketball team put on a historic scoring display, defeating Trinity Baptist 118-66 on Saturday night at the Florida Tech Winter Classic. This impressive tally marks the third-highest point total in a single game in program history. Jordan Wilkins led the Blue and White with a standout 20-point performance, while Austin Vick posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
 
With this triumph, the Fighting Knights improved their record to 7-3 overall and extended their winning streak to four games
 
HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Osei Price opened the scoring with a layup in the paint 
- Carson Smith sunk the first three-pointer for Lynn with 18:40 on the clock, making the score 7-4 
- At the 16-minute mark, Leo Beath scored in the paint to give Lynn an eight-point lead, 16-8 
- From 15:44 to the 9:11 mark, Lynn went on a 21-2 run to create a 25-point cushion, 37-12 
- Back-to-back three-pointers from Wilkins at 7:21 and 6:55 extended the Blue and White's lead to 31 points, 45-14 
- JP Baron swished a three with 1:35 left in the first half to increase the lead to 33 points, 55-22 
- Lynn ended the first half ahead 60-27, shooting 52.08% from the field  
- Beath scored a slam dunk a minute into the second half, making it 62-29 
- Sveinn Birgisson continued Lynn's attacking momentum on the next possession with a layup, assisted by Smith, to give the Fighting Knights a 35-point lead, 64-29 
- The Fighting Knights maintained a minimum of a 30-point lead for the opening 10 minutes of the second half 
- After two made free throws by Vick at the 10:09 mark, the Blue and White achieved their first 40-point lead of the game, 86-46 
- A three-pointer from Price put 91 points on the board for Lynn, 91-46 
- Baron splashed a three-pointer at the 7:35 mark, increasing the lead to 46 points, 95-49 
- A successful tip-in by Vick in the paint brought Lynn to 100 points for the night with 6:16 left in the game 
- Wilkins scored a layup from a fastbreak to give the Fighting Knights a 51-point lead, 110-59, with three minutes left to play 
- The Blue and White achieved their highest lead of the game with 32 seconds left after Baron made both of his free throws for a 55-point cushion, 116-61
- Lynn won the game with a score of 118-66 

 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS: 
- Six Lynn players scored in double figures: Wilkins (20), Birgisson (18), Beath (16), Baron (15), Price (11), and Vick (10) 
- Wilkins hit 5-13 three-point attempts, leading the team in scoring with 20 points off the bench 
- Vick dominated the boards pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds, this is the most rebounds recorded in a game in 2024 
- Braydon Iuli orchestrated the offense dishing out eight assists while adding two steals and five points 
- Lynn's defense was formidable, recording 11 blocks during the game 
- The Fighting Knights excelled in rebounding, totaling 61 
- The team shot 48.9% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range 
- Birgisson shot 70% from the field and 50% from beyond the arc while contributing 18 points and eight rebounds 
- Fighting Knights who came off the bench contributed 59 points to the total score 
- This game against Trinity Baptist ranks the third most points recorded in program history 
- The Blue and White attempted the most three-point shots in program history at 45 
- Lynn achieved the most rebounds in a game in the program's history with 61
