BOCA RATON, Fla. - Five Fighting Knights recorded double-digit kills as No. 1 seed Lynn took down No 4. Embry-Riddle (23-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 19-17) in the NCAA South Regional Semifinal on Saturday evening. Lynn managed to come back after trailing two sets to one. The Blue and White are now set to face No. 3 Tampa tomorrow in the regional final. Lynn is 29-3 overall this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Set 1: Embry-Riddle, 25-23
- The first set had 13 ties and four lead changes

Samantha Blahut and
Fabia Gonzalez Stanton posted back-to-back kills to even the score at two
- The Eagles 5-2 run was followed by a Fighting Knights 4-1 surge, with Wolf adding a solo block during the response

Aline Olegario and
Maria Cecilia Pinho combined for a block to tie the set at 13

Samantha Wolf's kill gave Lynn an 18-17 lead
- A 4-1 Embry-Riddle run put them back ahead by two
- Lynn fought off two set points but ERAU took the set on a block error, 25-23
Set 2: Lynn, 25-17
- Lynn led wire-to-wire in the set
- A block by Blahut and kill by Fabia Stanton Gonzalez guided four straight points to begin the frame
- Blahut posted another block as part of four more consecutive points for an 8-1 score
- Olegario's block once again gave Lynn a seven-point lead, 12-5
- ERAU went on a 6-2 run to make it a three-point set, 13-10
- The Blue and White followed with a 6-1 run, highlighted by four Cecilia Pinho kills
- The Eagles brought the score within four before Lynn rallied for four-straight points, as Gorjup assisted three kills, for a 25-17 set win
Set 3: Embry-Riddle, 25-22
- Gorjup opened the set with an ace
- Embry-Riddle jumped out to a 12-3 lead
- A 6-1 run saw Lynn climb back to within five
- Three consecutive kills by Stanton made it a one-point game, 21-20, in favor of ERAU
- Olegario's kill again brought Lynn to within one point before the Eagles scored two straight to win the set
Set 4: Lynn, 25-23
- Cecilia Pinho's kill guided Lynn to an early 3-0 advantage
- Olegario's kill broke a 5-5 tie score
- An ace by Wolf and block by Stanton helped a 4-0 Fighting Knight run
- The Eagles responded with a 4-1 spurt to narrow the Lynn lead to two points, 16-14
- Blahut's kill and a service error gave Lynn its 19th and 20th points of the set and a four-point lead
- Gorjups kill brought a set point for Lynn, 24-21
- The Eagles fought off two set points before Olegario finished the frame with a kill
Set 5: Lynn, 19-17
- A thrilling fifth set contained eight ties and three lead changes
- Embry-Riddle opened with the first four points of the deciding set
- Wolf, Blahut and Cecilia Pinho followed with kills and Blahut/Cecilia Pinho combined for a block to tie the frame at four
- Blahut's kill and Wolf's ace forced an Eagles timeout after six consecutive Lynn points
- Cecilia Pinho's kill gave Lynn a three-point lead
- ERAU made a run of three straight points to tie the set at nine
- Wolf and Olegario assisted on a block to give the Blue and White a 12-9 advantage
- The Eagles tied the set at 12 with three more points
- Wolf's kill brought a match point at 14-13, but the Eagles went on to fight off three match points and take a 17-16 lead
- A pair of errors by Embry-Riddle brought on another match point for the Fighting Knights

- Blahut led all players with a .462 hitting percentage
- Wolf led Lynn with 24 digs while Gentile has 23
- Five Fighting Knights had double-digit kills: Olegario (15), Cecilia Pinho (14), Gonzalez (12), Blahut (12) and Wolf (11)
- Wolf has at least three aces in three of her last four matches
- Cecilia Pinho had nine blocks while Blahut and Olegario added six
- The Blue and White tied a season-high with 67 kills (also 9/28 vs. Palm Beach Atlantic)
