SAINT LEO, Fla. - Lynn men's basketball was upset on the road by Saint Leo by a score of 91-76, Wednesday night. Five Fighting Knights scored in double figures, led by Brad McCabe's season-high 19 points. However, the Lions shot 59% (39-of-66) from the field, including 47% (9-for-19) from 3-point range, to claim the victory.
Lynn falls to 16-9 overall and 11-8 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Saint Leo moves to 11-16 and 6-13.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights led for just 3:04 total in a game with five lead changes
- Jamison Evans made a quick jumper to start the scoring
- A Lions dunk capped an 8-0 run to give the home team an 8-2 lead
- Nordin Kapic scored four consecutive points to put Lynn within five, 19-14, with 10:44 left in the first half
- McCabe made back-to-back three pointers as Lynn took a 23-22 lead
- Evans capped a 13-0 run with a dunk to put the Fighting Knights ahead 27-22
- Saint Leo responded with a run of their own to take a 37-30 advantage
- McCabe and Kapic combined for seven straight points to knot the score at 37
- An 8-0 Saint Leo run gave the home team a 45-37 lead at the half
- The Lions led by 11 two minutes into the second half
- Evans knocked down three three-pointers over a 1:05 span to cut the deficit to five, 54-49
- Saint Leo once again took its margin to 11 and the Fighting Knights again clawed back to within five on Tradavis Thompson's jumper with 10:28 showing
- The Lions went on a 15-5 run over the next 7:23 to take a commanding 82-67 lead
- Lynn was unable to get within single digits as Saint Leo cruised to a 91-76 win
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- McCabe went 5-for-7 from three-point range and added two blocks
- Jalen Gilmore went 4-for-6 from deep, posting 14 points and five assists
- Kapic was one rebound shy of a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds
- Evans scored 16 points in 18 minutes and has now made 300 career field goals with 55% of them (165) coming from beyond the arc
- 22 of Lynn's 29 field goals were assisted
