BOCA RATON, Fla – The 20th-ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team surged to an 11–0 first half lead before securing a 20-2 win over Alabama-Huntsville, Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights are currently on a six-game winning streak and are 7-1 overall in the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Lynn scored the game's first 11 goals en route to a 12 -1 cushion at halftime
-Sophomore Rebecca Clark scored the first two goals at 10:54 and 10:04 to highlight a seven-goal first quarter for the Fighting Knights
- Junior Kristyn Johnson added two goals during the first quarter, while classmate Mallory Jarka handed out two assists
- Freshman Hayley Ashburn scored her first collegiate goal at 4:51 in the opening quarter
-Graduate student Elizabeth Tamasitis scored in the opening 30 seconds of the second period for a 9-0 lead
- Jarka and Johnson each scored near the midway point of the second quarter as Lynn led 11-0
-Lynn increased its lead to 16-1 following three quarters of action after Clark and Jarka finished with two goals each during the third
-Junior Kristyn Johnson scored the last three goals in the fourth quarter to extend Lynn's lead, 20-2
-The Fighting Knights had 20-of-21 successful clear attempts, scooped up 15 ground balls, earned 16 draw controls and outshot AHU 33-8
- The Fighting Knights are outscoring their opponents be 12.5 goals per game during their current winning streak
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Johnson was the top scorer in the match with nine points
- She finished with seven goals on seven shots on target, while also assisting two goals
-Jarka totaled seven points and was on the team with five goals on five shots on target
-The duo combined for a total of 16 points
- Clark was also perfect with three goals on three shots to go along with two assists
- Freshman Angelia Huggins accumulated four points with a goal and three assists
- Sophomore Isabella Connelly tied a career-high with 10 draw controls
- Sophomore Callista Elica made four saves and allowed two goals in 60 minutes of play
- The Fighting Knights caused 12 turnovers
