Women’s lacrosse scores program record 27 goals

WISE, Va. – The 20th-ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team established a new program record for goals in a game in a 27-17 rout of UVA-Wise, Saturday. The Fighting Knights are now 3-1 overall this spring. Junior Kristyn Johnson set program records in goals (10) and points (13).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn scored 18 goals over the first three quarters of action and closed with nine goals in the fourth for the record
- The previous scoring mark was set against Ave Marie in 2022 with 24 goals
- Lynn also set the record for shots (48) and points (42)
- The Fighting Knights handed out a program record 15 assists
- Lynn finished the afternoon 14-of-16 on clear attempts and posted 24 draw controls
- Johnson scored two goals in the first quarter as the game was tied at 5-5 following the first 15 minutes
- Wise opened the second quarter with three goals for an 8-6 lead
- Johnson scored two more goals and sophomore Rebecca Clark netted one goal as Lynn recaptured the lead 9-8 with 8:33 to go in the second
- The Cavaliers scored at 6:44 and again at 6:25 to take their final lead of the game at 10-9
- Lynn rattled off the game's next seven goals for a 16-10 lead
- Sophomore Hannah Exley started the run with a goal at 4:06 in the second quarter and freshman Catie O'Connor scored her first collegiate goal to close the first half
- Johnson and junior Mallory Jarka each scored twice during the outburst
- Freshman Heather Titus scored her first collegiate goal to give Lynn an 18-12 edge following three quarters
- The Fighting Knights opened the fourth with three goals and freshman Angelia Huggins scored the game's final two goals to set the final at 27-17
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Johnson set the program record with 13 points behind a program-record 10 goals and three assists
- Clark scored five goals with one assist and 10 draw controls
- Jarka finished with six points (four goals/two assists) and five ground balls
- Huggins scored twice and handed out two assists
- Exley finished with two goals and one assist
- Sophomore Katelyn Andrews earned the win in goal after stopping five shots
