Clark scores game-winner, Fighting Knights drop #8 Embry-Riddle

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Sophomore Rebecca Clark scored the game-winning goal with 2:34 left in the fourth quarter to lift the No. 12 Lynn University women's lacrosse team to a 17-16 defeat of No. 8 Embry-Riddle, Saturday.
 
The Fighting Knights have now defeated a pair of teams ranked eighth in the nation and Lynn has won its last nine games. Last week, the Fighting Knights defeated then eighth-ranked Flagler, 15-10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn outshot Embry-Riddle 34-27 and held a 20-17 edge in draw controls
- The hosts were 18-of-20 on clear attempts, while the Eagles finished 5-of-7 on free position goals
- The Eagles led by two goals, 5-3 early in the second before a run of three-straight goals by Lynn handed it a 6-5 lead
- Junior Kristyn Johnson scored the first and third goals during the run, while sophomore Elizabeth Clagett scored the second
- Junior Mallory Jarka scored twice inside the final five minutes of the first half including with 10 seconds left to hand the Fighting Knights a 9-8 lead at intermission
- The Fighting Knights opened the third quarter with a 4-0 scoring run for a 13-9 edge at 9:18
- Clagett scored three goals during the 4-0 outburst
- Clark closed the third with a goal with 31 seconds left for a 15-12 lead
- The Eagles rebounded by scoring four of the game's next five goals to knot things at 16 with 2:44 to play
- Clark collected the ensuing draw control and raced to goal before burying her shot for the game-winner with 2:34 to play
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Clagett finished with five goals, one assist and two draw controls
- Jarka added three goals and two assists
- Johnson scored twice with two assists
- Clark had three goals, two ground balls, one caused turnover and six draw controls
- Sophomore Isabella Connelly picked up 11 draw controls
- Senior Riley Stewart and sophomore Emily Solomon each caused three turnovers
- Sophomore Callista Elica notched eight saves in goal for the win
