LAKELAND, Fla. - Lynn University softball lost the final two games of its series against Florida Southern, 6-0 and 6-2, on Saturday.
Aryana Galioto had multiple hits in each game for the Fighting Knights. Lynn is now 12-32 overall and 3-21 in the SSC.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- The game was scoreless through four innings
- FSC scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning on three singles and a sac fly
- Lynn had runners on second and third with two outs but a line out ended the inning
- The Mocs added four more runs in the top of the seventh inning on a single, four walks and two errors to take a 6-0 lead
- Galioto, Teagan Riley and
Monique Poitevin all singled in the bottom of the seventh but the Fighting Knights were unable to score
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Florida Southern took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a pair of two-out RBI singles
- The Mocs tacked on an unearned run an inning later
- Relief pitcher Madison Prickett struck out the final batter of the inning to strand runners on second and third
- Olivia Lovins reached on an error, stole second and later scored on Galioto's single up the middle for Lynn's first run
- The Fighting Knights cut FSC's lead to one, 3-2, after Prickett doubled and was later driven in by Eliza Gonzalez
- The Mocs scored three unearned runs in the top of the sixth to break open the game and take a 6-2 lead
- Maiya Reinhart doubled in the bottom of the seventh, but the game ended in a 6-2 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Galioto posted four hits over the two games and drove in her second run of the season
- In game one, Kayley Zazzali tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief
- Prickett slugged her fifth double of the season while Reinhart hit her third of 2024
- In game two, Prickett threw 4.0 innings without allowing an earned run and striking out four
- After committing zero errors in Friday's win, the Fighting Knights made nine errors over the two Saturday games
- Lynn is 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts over its last four games
