BOCA RATON, Fla. – The fourth-ranked Lynn University women's tennis team opened the NCAA Tournament on Friday morning with a dominating 4-0 win over 12
th-ranked Auburn Montgomery at Perper Tennis Complex.
The Fighting Knights are now 17-3 on the season and will face the winner of No. 2 Nova Southeastern and No. 10 West Alabama in the Regional Final tomorrow morning at 9:00 am.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn collected the first point by winning the first and second doubles flights
- The Blue and White captured wins in the first, third and fourth singles flights to seal the win
- The 43
rd-ranked team of
Deniza Marcinkevica and
Jade Marie posted a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles over the 16
th-ranked team of Ane Ibarra and Estefania Garcia
- They are now 6-2 in doubles at the top flight
- The duo of
Greta Schieroni and
Salma Djoubri downed Melissa Yakup Pour and Sofia Neri, 6-4 in the second doubles flight
- They now have 12 doubles victories with 11 in the second flight
- Marcinkevica carried that momentum into singles as she captured the first win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Ana Villalvazo in the third flight
- She is 9-2 singles and 7-0 at No. 3
- Djoubri, the nation's top singles player, captured the third point with a 6-1, 6-0 win over 13
th-ranked Garcia in the top flight
- She is now 18-1 overall on the season and hasn't lost to a DII opponent in 2023-24
- Sophomore
Kristen Younes closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Regina Urbiola at No. 4 singles
- Younes has 12 singles wins including six wins in the fourth flight
