Fighting Knights’ late push falls short against Tampa

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn University women's soccer team fell to Tampa, 2-1, in Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday evening at Bobby Campbell Stadium. Senior forward Talia Stacy scored her third goal of the season in the 88th minute, but the late push came up short as the Spartans held on for the win.

The Fighting Knights are now 1-5-4 overall and 0-3-1 in the SSC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kiana Rhee-Osorio gave the Fighting Knights their first shot on target in the 8th minute  
- Brisa  
- Goalkeeper Emma Brunelli made a diving stop on a shot aimed at the top left corner of the net to keep the game scoreless in the 28th minute  
- Brisa Sastre made a diving tackle in the 31st minute to stop a Spartan attack  
- Tampa broke through in the 43rd minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime  
- The Lynn defense blocked consecutive Tampa shots before the halftime whistle  
- Brunelli turned away two more Spartan attempts in the opening two minutes of the second half  
- Kayla Bradby threatened the net in the 52nd minute with a shot aimed bottom left that was saved  
- Tampa doubled its advantage in the 59th minute on a penalty kick, 2-0  
- Kayleigh Merchant looked to get one for the Blue and White with a shot down the middle that was saved in the 83rd minute  
- Stacy found the back of the net in the 88th minute off a cross from Hannah Pahl, with Meilani Murillo adding the secondary assist, 2-1

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Stacy currently leads Lynn as the top goal scorer in 2025 with three goals  
- Murillo and Pahl each tallied their first assists of the season  
- Brunelli's nine saves marked her third highest this season  
- Sastre, Steiner, and Larsen joined Brunelli in playing all 90 minutes
