Lynn survives thriller, advances to SSC Final on PKs

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn men's soccer battled back in regulation and again in penalty kicks to advance past Florida Tech in a thrilling Sunshine State Conference semifinal on Thursday evening. Robin Muenst delivered the equalizer in the 85th minute, and after two scoreless overtime periods, the match went to PKs.

With Lynn trailing, a Panthers attempt hit the post and goalkeeper Luca Clavero produced a pair of clutch saves, setting up Luan Barroso Rennstich for the decisive kick.

The Fighting Knights will play Rollins in the SSC Tournament Final on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- Lynn created the first big chance in the 14th minute when Thiago De Carvalho forced a save from the Panthers' keeper 
- Muenst followed with a strong shot in the 17th minute that was pushed away
- Florida Tech tested Clavero in the 20th minute for his first save of the game 
- The Panthers opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a left-footed strike to the bottom corner
- Lynn responded immediately with pressure from Barroso Rennstich, who fired two shots between the 28th and 30th minutes 
- Joao Pinto put another effort on target moments later, resulting in a corner
- Lynn started the second half on the front foot as Marc Ehmann sent a shot wide in the 48th minute

- The equalizer came in the 85th minute when Barroso Rennstich drove down the right side and sent a low cross into the box
- Muenst finished the chance with a composed strike to the bottom-left corner to level the match at 1-1
- Lynn continued pressing late, producing two more shots in the final five minutes of regulation
- In the first overtime period, Clavero made back-to-back saves in the 96th minute to keep the score level
- The Fighting Knights created four strong chances in the final four minutes of the second overtime, but each was stopped by the Panthers' keeper, sending the match to penalty kicks
Penalty Kicks: 
- Florida Tech converted its first two attempts, while Lynn converted one, giving the Panthers an early advantage
- Clavero scored Lynn's third penalty attempt and made a save on Tech's fifth attempt
- Fynn Friedrichs kept Lynn alive after he scored the fifth penalty attempt, 3-3 
- Florida Tech missed its final attempt, giving Lynn the chance to win it
