Baseball shut out against No. 3 Catawba

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn baseball suffered a 3-0 defeat to No. 3 Catawba on Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Knights' leadoff hitter reached base in three straight innings, but Catawba's pitching staff kept the Blue and White offense in check, resulting in an 0-2 start to the season for Lynn. First baseman David Judge provided a bright spot, collecting two more hits in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Starting pitcher Ryan DiMaggio picked off a runner in a scoreless top of the first
- Three singles, two walks and a hit-by-pitch led to two Catawba runs in the top of the second inning
- Judge and Juan Carlos Camarena singled in a scoreless bottom half of the second
- Blake Mayberry was stranded on second after leading the third inning off with a walk
- Reliever Justyn Hart left runners stranded on second and third by inducing a groundout to shortstop Bryant Zayas
- Catawba scored its final run on a two-out single to right in the top of the seventh
- The Blue and White went down in order in the eighth and ninth innings for a 3-0 final

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Nathan Shane retired seven of the eight batters he faced in 2.1 innings of relief without allowing a run
- Hart struck out three in 2.2 innings pitched
- Mayberry reached base twice and has reached safely in six of his nine (.667 OB%) plate appearances this season
- Judge has multiple hits in both games to start the 2025 season
