2025 Track Season Preview

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Heading into his third season as Lynn's track and field head coach, Junior Cadet has implemented a clear-cut mindset in both his men and women athletes as the 2025 season rapidly approaches…"Be hungry and determined"

"Our athletes want to leave a legacy," said Cadet. "That starts with working hard to win a championship and do something that has never been done before."

This season marks the first year that the Sunshine State Conference will hold a Championship meet which is set for Apr. 19 in Daytona Beach at Embry-Riddle. For Cadet, making a mark in the conference history books is a driving force for his teams.

"A major goal of ours is to win the conference championships and put our name in history," said Cadet. "The idea of being able to say we were the first team to ever win it would be something that no one could ever take away from us."

Men
The '25 version of the men's program is built around speed and a core group that will look to make an impact on a national stage. The team is coming off a successful 2024 campaign which saw Fighting Knight veterans Collin Clark and Paul Mosley compete at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis. Cadet looks to build off of this success with a group of key returners blended in with a batch of talented freshmen.

"On the men's side, we're really happy to have Clark, Mosley, Luke Sweatman and Denzel Rigaud back," said Cadet. "Clark and Mosley were the first two to represent Lynn track at nationals while Sweatman really thrives as our leading mid-distance runner and Rigaud is our leader in hurdles."

"We also have a group of freshmen for the 400 and 800 group that I'm really excited about," added Cadet. "Justin Dewar, Julian Donaldson, Isaiah Bryant and Lucas Oliveira are some fresh faces that could make a real impact."

Clark placed 22nd at the NCAA Championships last May with a time of 48.28 in the 400 as one of the first Fighting Knights to qualify for nationals. He also recorded a 46.87 in the 400 for the nation's 16th-fastest time and a school record at the Lee Last Chance meet. The St. Louis-native was named All-South Region in 2024, picking up 11 wins and 20 top-five finishes over the course of the season.

Mosley emerged as Lynn's top 200 sprinter as a sophomore, also being named as one of two Fighting Knights to qualify for the NCAA Championships in 2024. The Savannah, Ga. native finished 12th at nationals in the 200 with a time of 21.04 while being named second team All-American in his second season at Lynn. Mosley broke a number of school records last season including the 100 (10.47), 200 (21.46) and 4x100 (42.29). Overall, He wrapped up 2024 with 21 top-five finishes in 10 meets while earning 11 wins in the 100, 200 and 4x100.

Sweatman will focus on mid-distance this spring after posting 13 top-five finishes in 10 meets in the 800, 1,500 and 4x400 last season while being named All-South Region for the second year in a row. Thibodaux, La. native also recorded a school record in the 1,500 at the Embry-Riddle Elements at 3:46.30.

As a freshman, Rigaud made an immediate impact as the leader for the men in hurdles. In 2024, he posted nine top-five finishes in eight meets, winning events in the 100, 200 and 400 hurdles as well as the 4x400. He set the school record of 18.61 in the 100 hurdles at the Embry-Riddle Elements as well as the top four times in the 400 hurdles including a school record of 54.53 at UCF.

Freshman sprinters Justin Dewar, Julian Donaldson and Isaiah Bryant, along with Lucas Oliveira (mid-distance) have all shown improvement heading into the season.

Women
While in previous seasons, the women's program was primarily built around mid-distance. This season, the women's team is well-rounded with a plethora of athletes who can compete at different levels, especially the short sprint events.

Key returners include Lily Koch, who will look to hold down the mid-distance, Makayla Lewis, who is the leading sprinter on the team as well as Davyn Dreibelbis and Brooke Bond who leads the hurdles group.

Koch competed in a plethora of events in 2024 including the 400, 800, 4x100 and 4x400. She placed top-ten four times in the 400 and 800 while placing top-ten eight times as part of the 4x100 and 4x400. She was a key contributor of the squad that broke the 4x400 school record (4:10.18) at the Embry-Riddle Blue and Gold meet.

In her junior season, Lewis collected 10 top-five finishes in nine minutes while setting six of the top-10 fastest times in the 100 dash-meter dash and five of the top-10 fastest times in the 200. She was also a big contributor in the 4x100 as part of the squad that recorded a school record time of 52.32 at the STU Under the Lights Open.

Dreibelbis made a major impact in her freshman season, starting the year out as a sprinter in which she posted top-ten finishes in the 200, 400 and 4x400. At the end of the year, she transitioned over to hurdles in which she placed top-ten four times in the 100 and 400 hurdles.

As a sophomore, Bond racked up wins in the 400 hurdles and the 4x400 while placing top-ten in eight events over the course of the 2024 season.

Cadet is also excited for the group of freshmen that are set to compete this season including Mira Akan (sprints), Annabelle Daley (mid-distance), and Jessica Lombardo (distance) among others .

"We have the chance to put our name in history on both the men's side and women's side," said Cadet. "It's all about who comes to compete at a high-level on any given day, that's the biggest thing about track and field."

The Lynn track & field teams open their 2025 season this Saturday, Feb. 22 at the UT Spartans Opener (Univ. of Tampa) at 5:00 pm.
