BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn softball dropped a pitchers' duel to No. 3 Tampa 1-0 on Friday evening. Starting pitcher Madi Prickett tossed a complete game, allowing just two hits with the lone run of the game coming on a sac fly. Anabel O'Donnell doubled for the Blue and White in the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Prickett struck out the side in the top of the second inning
- O'Donnell hit a one-out double to the left-center gap in the bottom of the inning but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning
- Tampa loaded the bases with one out in the top of the sixth but Prickett put away the next two batters to keep the game scoreless
- The Spartans put runners on second and third with nobody out in the top of the seventh
- Left fielder Quinn Lockhart made a diving catch but Tampa was able to tag up for a run and 1-0 lead
- Cameron Buzzell made a nice catch on a line drive to second and Prickett recorded a strikeout to prevent any further damage in the inning
- The Blue and White went down in order in their final chance for a 1-0 final
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- O'Donnell is hitting .320 this season and has doubled in back-to-back games
- Prickett lowered her season ERA to 2.10 as she tossed her 13 career complete game
- The Fighting Knights own a 2.70 team ERA this season
- Lynn pitching last allowed two-or-fewer hits in a game on April 14, 2023 in a win against Saint Leo; Prickett pitched two no-hit innings
