BOCA RATON, Fla.- Despite a hard-fought effort in singles competition, the Lynn University men's tennis team came up just short against seventh-ranked Rollins on Sunday afternoon, 4-3.
The Blue and White now sit at 4-3 overall with a 1-2 mark in Sunshine State Conference play while the Tars improved to 5-2 on the year with a 1-0 record in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rollins claimed the doubles point after earning wins in the second and third spot prior to completing the doubles sweep.
- The duo of Alessio Demichelis and Santino Morel put up a fight in the first flight of doubles against Luke Quaynor and Richard Stoiberer, forcing a tiebreaker but ultimately falling short, 7-6 (7-5).
- Demichelis put together a dominant performance in No. 1 singles, downing Quaynor in a 6-2, 6-2 contest.
- Since joining the Fighting Knights in mid-February, Demichelis has earned a 2-1 record with both wins coming in the first flight.
- Aymen Alimoussa earned a comeback victory in third flight over Nico de Giacomo, 3-6, 6-1, 10-5.
- Alimoussa improved to 4-3 in singles competition, claiming his first victory in the No. 3 slot.
- Davide Cortimiglia picked up the third point for the Fighting Knights in the sixth flight, making quick work of Stoiberer, 6-1, 6-4.
- Cortimiglia is now 3-1 on the year with two wins in the sixth flight.
