Beath, Roland post double-doubles in loss at No. 18 FSC

LAKELAND, Fla. – Lynn lost its road game to No. 18 Florida Southern 88-75 on Saturday evening. The Fighting Knights led by two at halftime but shot just 29.3% in the second half. Freshman John Roland (15 points, 11 rebounds) and junior Leo Beath (11 points, 14 rebounds) each posted double-doubles, while graduate Carson Smith led the team with 17 points.

The Blue and White are now 14-7 overall and 9-6 in the Sunshine State Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mocs jumped out to a 9-0 lead as Austin Vick stopped the opening drought with an offensive board and put-back at the 15:44 mark
- Jordan Wilkins sunk a pair of threes for a 13-8 score
- Carson Smith's three brought Lynn to within one, 19-18, with 11:18 remaining in the first half
- John Roland scored eight points on an 11-4 Fighting Knight run as the visitors trailed 35-33
- JP Baron's steal and kick to Smith for a buzzer-beating three at the top of the key gave Lynn a 42-40 lead at the break
- Down three five minutes into the second half, Roland's put-back layup put the Fighting Knights down by one
- Wilkins hit another three to tie the game at 57 with under 13 minutes remaining
- FSC followed two free throws by Noah Kattan with a 7-0 run to lead 70-62 at the 9:15 mark
- Leo Beath scored all six Lynn points on a 6-2 spurt to climb within four
- An 11-2 Mocs run expanded their lead to 12, 84-72
- Roland's three-pointer put the deficit back to single digits with 2:21 left but Florida Southern scored the final four points of the game at the line for an 88-75 final

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Osei Price and Smith each went 4-for-7 on three-pointers
- Smith has made 4+ threes and shot at least 50% from deep in the same game six times this season
- Price is averaging 13.7 points per game over his last six games and is shooting 49.2% from the field over the stretch
- Roland set a career high in points (15) on 7-of-9 shooting
- Beath has recorded three straight double-doubles and is averaging 19 points and 14.3 rebounds during the span
- Wilkins has made 18 threes over his last four games (4.5 per game)
