TAMPA, Fla. – No. 7 Lynn dropped its SSC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup at No. 2 Tampa 77-62 on Tuesday night. In a game with 11 lead changes, the Fighting Knights owned a brief fourth-quarter lead before Tampa surged ahead to secure the win.
 
Ella Fiore and Jess Knight led Lynn with 14 points each, as Fiore totaled her 1,000^th career point with her final basket. Lynn's season ends with a 13-15 overall record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Makayla Hemingway assisted Knight on a layup to start the scoring
- Hemingway's jumper gave Lynn an 8-7 lead with 6:21 left in the first quarter
- Trinity Mocadlo ended a Tampa 9-0 run with a three-pointer to bring Lynn within five, 16-11
- Danielle Montelbano found Fiore for a fastbreak layup for Lynn's final field goal of the first quarter
- The Fighting Knights started the second quarter on a 7-0 run, led by four points from Knight and three from Fiore
- Channing Chappell knocked down a three-pointer to cut Lynn's deficit to one, 26-25
- Following a Rachel Romich block, Fiore gave Lynn the lead with a layup for a 31-30 score at the 2:21 mark of the second quarter
- Fiore's steal and jumper gave the Blue and White a 33-32 lead at halftime
- Knight made four free throws early in the third quarter to keep the score tied
- Knight then grabbed a defensive board and made a layup at the other end to regain the lead
- Romich made a pair of free throws to end a Spartan 7-0 run and bring Lynn within one, 46-45, through three quarters
- Montelbano's traditional three-point play was followed by two free throws from Hemingway as the road team regained the lead, 50-49, with 8:52 left in regulation
- A Spartan three with 5:39 left put the home team up by six, 58-52
- Tampa's lead reached double digits with 3:05 showing on the clock
- The Spartans closed the game on a 10-3 run with all points coming from the free throw line
