BOCA RATON, Fla - Despite a four-goal performance from
Elizabeth Clagett and a hattrick by
Kristyn Johnson, the Lynn University women's lacrosse team suffered a narrow 11-10 defeat to the visiting Saint Leo Lions in the Sunshine State Conference Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn opened strong with back-to-back goals from Clagett in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead with 1:53 left in the first period
- Saint Leo responded with a 4-0 run that carried in the second quarter, 4-2 Lions
- Johnson scored her first of the game assisted by
Angelia Huggins to make it 4-3 at the 7:14 mark
- The Blue and White went on a four-goal run to close out the quarter
- Johnson scored a pair while
Hannah Exley and Clagett scored the other two to give Lynn a 7-5 lead going into the half
- Saint Leo scored two goals to tie the game but
Rebecca Clark answered with a goal of her own to close the third period with an 8-7 lead for Lynn
- The Lions opened the fourth quarter with three goals to retake the lead with 9:26 to play, 10-8
- Exley provided hope for the Fighting Knights with a goal at 8:21 to make it a one-goal game, 10-9
- Clagett scored her fourth goal of the night to tie the game at 10-10 with just over three minutes remaining
- The Lions scored just a minute later and held the lead until the final whistle, 11-10

- The Blue and White went 20-for-21 on clear attempts and won 9 draw controls
