Fighting Knight relay teams shine at Running Elements Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –  The Lynn University track teams put together an impressive string of performances at the Running Elements Classic meet hosted by Embry-Riddle this weekend. Overall, the men's track team finished sixth in a pool of 28 teams while the women's team finished 22nd.
The Fighting Knights excelled at the relay events, placingin the top five in three combined relays. The men took second in both the 4x100m and the 4x400m while the women set a school record in the 4x400 for a fourth-place finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Men):
- Paul Mosley started off the meet by taking first in the 100-meter prelims with a time of 10.22.
- Robert LeBrun took 23rd place in the 100-meter with a time of 10.89
- In the 3000m steeple, Cameron Matejka finished 18th in 10:39.93
- Luke Sweatman placed 27th in the 1500 meters with a finals time of 3:59.88
- In the 200 prelims, Mosley secured first place with a time of 20.62 for a new school record
- Lebrun followed Mosley in 23rd place with a time of 21.91 while Collin Clark got 29th with a finish of 22.01
- Renzo Almeida finished off Friday night in the 10,000 meters, placing fifth with a time of 35:07.07
- Clark, Mosley, LeBrun, and Isaiah Bryant opened Saturday morning with the 4x100m relay by placing second with a time of 40.92
- Clark took third place in the 400 meters with a time of 46.92
- In the 400-meter hurdles, Denzel Rigaud took eighth place with a time of 56.04
- Ethan Poitier followed in 17th with a finish of 59.04
- Sweatman placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.47
- Finishing off the meet Bryant, Mosley, Clark, and LeBrun took second with a time of 3:09.13 in the 4x400 record.
- The team now ranks fifth in the nation with a qualifying nationals time

HOW IT HAPPENED (Women)  
- The women started off the meet with the 100-meter hurdles
- Mira Akan took 16th place with a time of 15.24 for a new school record
- Akan also took 18th place in the 100-meter prelims with a time for 12.32.
- Emma Smith followed in 23rd place with a time of 12.47
- Tessa Bray took 31st finishing the event in 12.61
- Jessica Lombardo took eighth place in the 3000m steeple with a time of 12:31.38
- Skyler Gillett followed Lombardo with a tenth-place time of 13:07.37
- Emma Smith secured 37th in the 200 with a time of 26.08 while Bray took 38th place with a finish of 26.10
- Akan took ninth in the 400 meters with a time of 58. 37 for a new Fighting Knight record
- Bray took 16th place in the 400 meters with a time of 59.23
- Smith, Alijah Giustino, Bray, and Akan finished with night off with the 4x400 relay taking fourth with a time of 3:58.16 making them the new Lynn record holders
- Angelina Howard, Davyn Dreibelbis, Kalei McPherson, and Brooke Bond took tenth place in the relay with a time of 4:17.56

- The Lynn track teams return to action for the inaugural Sunshine State Conference Championship meet, hosted by Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Apr. 19.
