MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday and
Amelia Ruiz Topali was named Women's Golfer of the Week.
The sophomore was stellar at the Lynn Invite on March 31 and April 1, posting rounds of 73, 68 and 70 to finish in second place at -5. In a 78-player field, she led all participants in Par 5 scoring (4.58, -5) and was third in total birdies with 12. Her 68 in the second round was the second-best score during the event as the Fighting Knights were seven under par in the middle round to take a commanding lead.
Ruiz Topali helped lead Lynn to a team win, along with
Lilly Dullinger (-5, T4),
Charlotte Brook (E, T6) and
Leelou Girault (+5, T16), by ten strokes against a 14-team field consisting of the top 30 teams in the country.
The Santiago, Chile native has five top-three finishes this year, including three wins. The weekly honor from the SSC is her fourth of the season.
Lynn will play in the SSC Women's Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. from April 13-15.
