ORLANDO, Fla. – Lynn University women's volleyball junior
Ula Gorjup has made Fighting Knight history once again, becoming the first player in program history to earn five Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Setter of the Week honors in a single season, as announced by the conference on Monday.
The recognition also makes Gorjup the first Lynn student-athlete across all sports to earn five SSC weekly honors in a single season since women's golfer Maria Hoyos accomplished the feat during the 2022-23 campaign.
Gorjup continued her impressive 2026 season by guiding No. 8 Lynn to a perfect 2-0 weekend on the road, totaling 82 assists across seven sets for an average of 11.71 assists per set. The Ljubljana, Slovenia native also contributed 16 digs, six kills and three service aces as the Fighting Knights secured conference victories over Saint Leo and Eckerd.
The junior opened the weekend with 34 assists in Friday's straight-set victory over Saint Leo, averaging 11.33 assists per set while adding four kills on .500 hitting, two service aces and four digs. Behind Gorjup's distribution, Lynn totaled 40 kills and hit .256 while limiting the Lions to a .086 hitting percentage.
Gorjup followed with another standout performance in Saturday's four-set victory over Eckerd, recording a double-double with 48 assists and 12 digs. She also contributed two kills and a service ace as the Fighting Knights registered 58 kills and hit .229 against the Tritons.
Across the two matches, Gorjup directed a Lynn offense that averaged 14.00 kills and 13.14 assists per set, while the Fighting Knights combined for 98 kills and a .239 hitting percentage.
With her fifth weekly honor of the season, Gorjup adds another milestone to her historic campaign, becoming the first Lynn volleyball student-athlete to reach the mark and the first Fighting Knight in any sport to do so in three seasons.
