No. 8 Lynn women’s golf secures top-10 finish at World Golf Invitational

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Competing against one of the strongest fields of the spring season, the eighth-ranked Lynn University women's golf team secured a ninth-place finish Tuesday at the 2026 World Golf Invitational in St. Augustine.
 
Facing a stacked field of nationally ranked opponents in a loaded 16-team tournament, the Fighting Knights improved tremendously after the opening round, shaving 14 strokes off their team score on day two and maintaining steady play in the final round to close at +53 overall (314-300-303).
 
INSIDE THE TOURNAMENT:
Tournament Standing: 9th out of 16 teams (+53)
Team Winner: Flagler (+19)
Individual Winner: Kajsa Lindqvist (Lander, E)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn opened the tournament against a stacked, nationally ranked field, carding a 314 in round one while settling into the challenging Slammer & Squire layout
- The Fighting Knights responded in round two with their best team score of the event, firing a 300 (+12) highlighted by Emilia Koskinen's impressive -2 round
- The Blue and White maintained steady play in the final round, posting a 303 (+15) to secure a top-10 finish against a loaded field
- Scarlet Weidig delivered Lynn's low round of the tournament on the final day, shooting a 1-under 71 to climb into a tie for 13th individually
- Amelia Ruiz Topali matched that closing momentum with a final-round 71, helping Lynn stabilize its scoring down the stretch
- Koskinen rebounded after round two to finish tied for 37th, showcasing Lynn's ability to produce under-par stretches against elite competition
- Vanessa Ramirez contributed consistent scoring across all three rounds to anchor the middle of the lineup
- Leelou Girault battled through the demanding field to round out Lynn's scoring effort as the Fighting Knights improved 14 strokes from round one to round two
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Weidig tied for 13th overall at +7, carding rounds of 76-76-71
- Koskinen finished tied for 37th at +15 with scores of 80-70-81
- Ruiz Topali also tied for 37th at +15 after posting rounds of 83-77-71
- Ramirez placed tied for 45th at +17 with scores of 76-77-80
- Girault rounded out Lynn's lineup in a tie for 77th at +28 with rounds of 82-78-84
- Lynn finished the tournament with two eagles, courtesy of Weidig and Ruiz Topali
- The Blue and White collectively recorded 156 pars and 27 birdies
