No. 10 Lynn rallies past No. 2 Adelphi with 13-11 upset victory

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The tenth-ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team upset No. 2 Adelphi University in a dramatic 13-11 showdown Friday night at Bobby Campbell Stadium. The Fighting Knights erased a 7-6 halftime deficit with five goals in the third period before a late insurance strike from freshman Madison Smith secured the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emily Solomon secured the opening draw control to give Lynn the first possession
- Rebecca Clark opened the scoring at the 14:00 mark off a pass from Hannah Connors to make it 1-0
- Hannah Exley added Lynn's second goal at 12:15
- Goals from Connors and Clark extended the lead to 4-1 at the end of the first period  
- Adelphi took its first lead of the game at the 9:45 mark of the second period, 5-4
-Clark equalized on a man-up opportunity at 7:28, 5-5
- Adelphi added two late goals before Elizabeth Clagett responded to make it 7-6 heading into the break
- Ruby Studer caused a turnover that sparked a Fighting Knights counterattack with six minutes remaining in the third
- Clark scored back-to-back goals to put Lynn back in front with eight minutes remaining in the third, 8-7
- Clagett followed with two unassisted goals over the next three minutes to extend the lead to 10-7
- Studer forced another turnover with one minute left in the third to give Lynn possession to start the fourth
- Clark and Clagett each scored to open the fourth quarter and maintain the three-goal advantage, 12-9
- Ava Ceglia made a strong save with 8:29 remaining, with the ground ball collected by Solomon to secure possession
- Adelphi cut the deficit to one with 2:40 remaining, 12-1
-Ceglia came up with another clutch play late, intercepting a pass over the net immediately following a Panther timeout to put Lynn firmly in the driver's seat as the clock wound down
- Lynn ran down the clock before Clark found Smith in front of goal with 12 seconds left to seal the 13-11 victory

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Clark led the Fighting Knights with seven points, recording six goals and one assist
- She currently leads the team with 13 goals so far this season
- On the defensive end, Clark won six draw controls, picked up three ground balls, and caused one turnover
- Clagett totaled six points on four goals and two assists
- Defensively, she added five ground balls, four caused turnovers, and two draw controls
- Angelia Huggins recorded two assists
- Ceglia anchored the defense with six ground balls and nine saves
- Solomon caused four turnovers and collected four ground balls
- Georgina Lewis secured two ground balls and caused one turnover
- Studer finished with three caused turnovers and one ground ball
- Lynn picked up 25 ground balls to Adelphi's 16
- Lynn recorded nine saves to Adelphi's four
