Fighting Knights roll past Eckerd on senior night, 92-72

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn University men's basketball team put on a showing on senior night defeating the Eckerd Tritons, 92-72, Wednesday evening.

The Fighting Knights improved 13-13 overall and 8-11 in SSC play heading into the final game of the regular season.

Prior to tipoff, team honored its seniors: Max Polk, Antoine Jacks, Noah Kattan, Sveinn Birgisson and Braydon Iuli. Polk was also presented with a commemorative game ball by Head Coach Bill Morosco and Assistant Coach Nick DeAtley in recognition of surpassing 1,000 career points. Following Wednesday evening's contest, Polk now has 1,026 career points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Eckerd scored first on a second-chance layup, but Sveinn Birgisson answered with a three-pointer off a Braydon Iuli assist to give Lynn an early spark
- Max Polk followed with a fast-break triple as the Fighting Knights matched the Tritons shot-for-shot from beyond the arc in the opening minutes
- Antoine Jacks converted a pair of free throws and later added a layup to keep Lynn within one possession midway through the halfMBB vs Eckerd Senior Day - 022526
- After falling behind 16-10, John Roland drilled a three-pointer to cut the deficit, igniting a momentum shift
- Iuli knocked down a go-ahead three at the 11:37 mark, and moments later Matthew Puodziukaitis converted an and-one opportunity to extend Lynn's edge
- Jacks attacked the rim for a driving layup, and Justin Bubak added two free throws to push the lead to five, 28-23
- Iuli threw down a fast-break dunk off a Jacks steal, sparking a 9-0 Blue and White run that stretched the margin to 32-23
- Bubak added a second-chance tip-in and later buried a three-pointer as Lynn maintained control through the middle portion of the half
- Jacks delivered in the closing minutes, knocking down a transition three and finishing another layup to give Lynn a late cushion
- After a defensive stand and an Austin Vick block in the final seconds, Jacks connected on a second-chance three-pointer at the buzzer to send Lynn into the break with a 46-40 lead
- Jacks opened the second half after he got a defensive rebound and scored a layup on the fast break, 48-43
- Back-to-back second chance scores from Iuli and Bubak gave Lynn a seven-point lead with 16:40 on the clock, 53-49
- Iuli stole the ball and connected with Bubak just four minutes later to score a layup in the paint to maintain the lead, 58-54
- Bubak made another layup and buried a three within 23 seconds of each other, 62-59
- Burgisson drilled a three at the eight-minute mark to push to Fighting Knight advantage to nine, 70-61
- Back-to-back three pointers from Birgisson and Polk extended the Blue and White's lead to 17-points, 82-65, with four minutes left of play
- Jacks gave Lynn a 20-point lead with just under two minutes left in the half after he scored from beyond the arc, 89-69
- Polk finished a three with 50 seconds left in the game to give Lynn its highest lead of the game, 92-69
- The final regular season home game finished with the Fighting Knights on top, 92-72

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn shot 43.1% from the field (28-of-65) and 42.4% from three-point range (14-of-33) while converting 22-of-29 (75.9%) from the free-throw line
- The Fighting Knights scored 27 fast-break points and held a 17-4 advantage in points off turnovers
- The Blue and White took care of the ball, only turning the ball over four times
- Lynn received a major boost from its bench, outscoring Eckerd 30-10 in bench points
- Jacks led all scorers with 25 points, adding six assists and two steals, while going 8-of-10 from the free-throw line
- For Jacks, this is the most points he scored in a game as a Fighting Knight
- Polk added 18 points, hitting 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, surpassing 1,000 career points (1,026 total)
- Bubak scored 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including two three-pointers, and added four assists
- Roland pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds, contributing to the Blue and White's 36 total rebounds
- Birgisson and Iuli combined for 19 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in their final game at the deHoernle Center
- The Fighting Knights finished with 15 assists on 28 made field goals, while recording three blocks and nine steals

Lynn closes out the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday afternoon at Florida Tech as the Fighting Knights take on the Panthers at 4 p.m. ahead of the SSC Championship Tournament.
