TAMPA, Fla. - The Lynn University softball team wrapped up its Sunshine State Conference series Saturday afternoon, completing game two before battling in a competitive 6-4 decision in game three against Tampa University.
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Tampa opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a walk and an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead

Kyleigh Hope singled down the right-field line to record Lynn's first hit of the game
- Lynn threatened in the second when
Ariana Rego singled through the left side and stole second base to move into scoring position
- Tampa added two runs in the second on three hits and a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead to 4-0
- In the third, Tampa used multiple walks and a two-run single to make it 7-0
- Tampa added six runs in the fourth to push the score to 13-0
- In the fifth,
Marina Goins drew a walk and Rego singled to put two runners on base
- Both runners advanced into scoring position on stolen bases, but the game ended after five innings

- Hope went 1-for-2 with a single
- Rego finished 2-for-2 with two singles and three stolen bases
- Goins drew a walk and stole a base
- Lynn recorded three hits, two walks, and five stolen bases
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game #3):
- Lynn applied pressure in the first as Rego reached on an error and advanced to second
- Floriano stole both second and third to put two runners in scoring position, but Lynn was unable to convert
- Tampa scored three runs through the first three innings

Teagan Riley drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by

Cara Willis reached on a throwing error, allowing Riley to score and cut the deficit to 3-1

Gabriella Lindsey worked through traffic in the middle innings to keep the game within reach
- Tampa added three runs in the fifth to make it 6-1
- Lynn responded in the sixth when Riley singled up the middle and later scored on an RBI single by Goins to make it 6-2

- Riley doubled to left field, driving in two unearned runs to trim the deficit to 6-4, but the rally fell short

- Goins finished 1-for-3 with an RBI
- Floriano recorded a hit and stole two bases
- Santiago scored a run and drew a walk
- Lindsey pitched a complete 6.0 innings, allowing six runs (three earned) with four strikeouts
