ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Lynn University baseball team powered its way to its first Sunshine State Conference victory of the season on Saturday, erupting for 15 runs in the opener to defeat Eckerd before dropping the series finale later in the day. The split moves the Fighting Knights to 10-13 overall and 1-5 in SSC play, highlighted by a dominant offensive performance in Game 1 that featured 17 hits and an eight-run fourth inning to secure the conference win.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game #1):
- Eckerd struck first in the opening inning with an RBI single to left center that plated the game's first run and gave the Tritons an early 1-0 lead

- Eckerd responded in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run and an RBI single, trimming the Fighting Knight lead to 3-2 after one
- Lynn added on in the third when Lopez launched a solo home run to left center, and later Tapia-Melo drove in a run with a single through the right side to extend the margin to 5-2
- The Tritons chipped away in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to make it a 5-3 contest

Scout Simpson reached on an error, stole second and later scored on a fielder's choice from
Amaris Harrison, increasing the lead to 6-3
- After several scoreless frames, Eckerd surged in the seventh inning with three home runs in the frame, turning a three-run deficit into a 9-6 lead
- The Tritons continued to add insurance in the eighth with two more runs on a fielder's choice and a wild pitch to stretch the advantage to 11-6.
