No. 8 Lynn rolls past Montevallo 17-1 in dominant showing

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 8 Lynn University women's lacrosse team delivered a dominant all-around performance, overwhelming Montevallo 17-1 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 6-2 on the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn controlled the game from the opening draw, outshooting Montevallo 33-4 while holding a decisive edge in possession and draw controls
- The Fighting Knights opened the scoring with five unanswered goals in the first quarter, with Elizabeth Clagett getting Lynn on the board
- Madison Smith and Rebecca Clark fueled the early surge as Lynn built a 5-0 lead after the first 15 minutes
- Clark opened the second quarter with a goal at the 11:31 mark before Montevallo capitalized on a man-up opportunity for its lone score, 6-1
- Lynn responded with three straight goals to close the half, including a man-down goal from Sara Williams and a strike from Angelia Huggins to take a 9-1 lead into halftime
- The Fighting Knights continued their offensive surge in the third quarter, scoring five goals
- Smith connected with Clark midway through the quarter to push Lynn into double digits, 10-1
- Clark and Huggins added back-to-back goals, while Hannah Exley and Addy Paul (first goal of the season) extended the lead to 14-1
- In the fourth quarter, Lynn added three more goals from Smith, Clagett, and Izzy Vieni
- Vieni capped the scoring with her first collegiate goal off an assist from Danielle Farinas to seal the 17-1 victory

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Smith led all scorers with five goals and three assists for an eight-point performance
- Clark totaled eight points with four goals and four assists, continuing to drive the Lynn offense
- Clark leads the Fighting Knights with 25 goals this season, ranking fourth in the SSC
- Huggins and Clagett each added two goals
- Huggins leads the team with 13 assists on the year
- Eight different Fighting Knights recorded goals, highlighting Lynn's offensive depth
- Ava Ceglia earned the win in goal with three saves while allowing just one goal
- Lynn dominated possession with a 16-4 advantage in draw controls and went a perfect 20-for-20 on clears
