Fighting Knights split doubleheader at No. 14 Rollins behind strong game one victory

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Lynn Fighting Knights earned a split on the road against No. 14 Rollins on Saturday afternoon, using a dominant 7-2 victory in game one before falling just short in a 6-5 decision in the nightcap. The Blue and White (14-16, 4-8 SSC) showcased timely hitting and strong pitching throughout the doubleheader, highlighted by a four-RBI performance from Scout Simpson and a steady outing from Ryan DiMaggio in the opener, while rallying late in game two but ultimately coming up one run shy against the nationally ranked Tars.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game #1):
- Both teams went quietly in the first inning before Rollins struck first in the bottom half, using three hits and a sacrifice fly to take an early 2-0 lead
- The Fighting Knights were held hitless through the first two innings as Rollins' starter kept the Lynn lineup off balance early
- Lynn broke through in the third, as Justin Lopez delivered an RBI double to cut the deficit to 2-1
- The Blue and White took the lead in the fourth, capitalizing on two walks before Bruce Thornton came through with a two-RBI single to make it 3-2
