Lynn falls in SSC quarterfinals to Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Lynn University women's basketball team fell in their SSC Tournament Quarterfinal matchup at Embry-Riddle, 84-65, on Tuesday night. Despite a first-half battle that featured four ties and 12 lead changes, the Eagles surged ahead in the second half to win the game.

The Fighting Knights close the season at 14-15 overall, 8-12 SSC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Embry-Riddle opened the scoring before Hannah Wentworth answered with a three-pointer to get Lynn on the board just two minutes into the game
- Back-to-back triples from Wentworth gave the Fighting Knights an 11-9 advantage midway through the first quarter
- A fastbreak layup from Angelina Deleon extended Lynn's lead to 13-9 in the following play
Karishma Ortiz converted a putback layup to maintain the advantage, 15-13
Emily Jean-Glaude's tip-in tied the game at 19-19 at the end of the opening quarter
- Deleon scored inside to open the second quarter and regain a 21-19 lead
Trinity Mocadlo's free throws and a jumper in the paint helped Lynn build a 33-30 advantage late in the second
- Ortiz finished inside to give Lynn a 35-34 edge with just over a minute left in the half
- The Eagles closed the second quarter on a 6-0 run to take a 40-35 lead into the break 
- Wentworth opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two, 40-38 for the Eagles
- Mocadlo added a pair of free throws to keep Lynn within one possession early in the third, 40-39
- A 13-6 Embry-Riddle run midway through the quarter extended the home team's lead to double digits
- Deleon and Jean-Glaude each scored in the paint late in the third, but the Eagles carried a 61-48 advantage into the fourth
- Lynn trimmed the deficit to six, 64-58, following consecutive baskets from Deleon and Serena Baker with 5:40 remaining
- Embry-Riddle responded with a decisive run down the stretch, outscoring Lynn 20-7 over the final five minutes to secure the 84-65 result

- Wentworth finished 6-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-9 from beyond the arc
