ORLANDO, Fla. - Lynn University's Jessica Lombardo has been named the Sunshine State Conference Women's Distance Runner of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon following her standout performance at the Eagle Invite in Daytona Beach.
 
Lombardo led the Fighting Knights with a victory in the 1500 meters, crossing the line first overall with a personal-record time of 4:48.14 to claim the event title. She also posted a personal-best 2:19.70 in the 800 meters, finishing fifth overall while competing in the top section of the race.
 
The standout distance runner capped her day by helping Lynn capture another event victory as a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team, which crossed the line in 4:03.47 to secure first place.
 
The weekly honor marks Lombardo's first SSC award of the 2026 season and the first conference honor for the Fighting Knights this season.
 
Behind Lombardo's performance, the Fighting Knights turned in multiple personal records and strong finishes, placing sixth out of 17 teams at the Eagle Invite.
 
The Lynn track teams return to action next weekend at the Fire Invite in Lakeland, Florida, hosted by Southeastern University on March 13-14.
