Fighting Knights show growth and speed at Baylor Invitational

WACO, Tex. - The Lynn University men's track team continued to build momentum against top-tier competition at the Baylor Invitational, highlighted by multiple personal-best performances and a top Division II mark from freshman Evan Joseph in the 400m. Competing against a Division I-heavy field, the Fighting Knights showcased depth across the sprints, hurdles, and relays as they gear up for the Sunshine State Conference Championships in two weeks.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
100m
- Andre Nembhard led the Fighting Knights with a time of 11.30, finishing 22nd overall while competing in Heat 4
- Nembhard battled through a headwind (-0.4 m/s), working through the drive phase and maintaining form down the stretch
 
200m
- Evan Joseph led the way for the Fighting Knights, clocking a 21.71 to finish 21st overall while competing in Heat 3
- Drew Campbell followed closely with a personal-best 21.75 in Heat 5, continuing his strong development in the sprint events
- Justin Dewar also recorded a personal best, crossing in 22.11 in Heat 5 to add another solid performance for Lynn
- Abraham Ater posted a 22.48 in Heat 6, battling through a strong headwind (-2.4 m/s)
- Andre Nembhard followed with a 22.83, while Dylan Michel rounded out Lynn's efforts with a 23.25 in the same heat
 
400m
- Joseph led the way for Lynn with a standout performance, finishing eighth overall in 47.44 while setting a new personal best and moving to No. 28 in Division II this season
- Dewar followed with a season-best 49.22 in Heat 3, continuing his steady progression in the quarter
- Ater added a personal-best effort of 50.24, showing improvement and depth for the Fighting Knights in the event
- Michel rounded out Lynn's performances with a 51.66 in Heat 3
 
110m Hurdles
- Jayden Geathers led the Fighting Knights in the event, clocking a 15.17 to finish fifth overall in Heat 1 against a competitive Division I-heavy field
- Geathers held his own throughout the race, finishing just ahead of UT Arlington's Devin Payne (15.31) and Andrei Fuentes (15.44)
- Ethan Poitier also represented Lynn in the hurdles, crossing the line in 16.57 to place eighth in the heat
 
400m Hurdles
- Geathers led the Fighting Knights with a strong performance, clocking a personal-best 55.54 to finish fifth overall in the event
- Geathers was in contention down the stretch, finishing just behind UT Arlington's Andrei Fuentes (55.52) in a tight race
- Poitier also delivered a personal-best effort, crossing in 58.83 to place sixth overall and round out Lynn's performances
 
4x400m Relay
- The Lynn 'A' relay team of Campbell, Dewar, Ater, and Joseph combined to run a 3:19.50, finishing fifth overall in a competitive field
- The group delivered a solid, consistent effort across all four legs, competing closely with Division I programs throughout the race
- Lynn also fielded a 'B' relay team of Geathers, Michel, Poitier, and Nembhard, which placed seventh with a time of 3:32.64

The Lynn track team now turns its focus to the postseason, with the Sunshine State Conference Championship set for April 24–25 just two weeks away.
