BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn University softball team battled throughout its Sunshine State Conference series opener against Palm Beach Atlantic, falling 4-0 on Friday afternoon at Tish Messinger Softball Stadium.
The Fighting Knights recorded four hits and put runners in scoring position late but could not break through against a complete-game effort in the circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams came out sharp defensively, as neither side recorded a hit through the first two innings
- Lynn starter
Gabriella Lindsey matched zeroes early, highlighted by a clean second inning with two groundouts and a strikeout to keep the game scoreless
- Palm Beach Atlantic broke through in the third inning, capitalizing on a pair of Lynn errors and timely hitting to take a 3-0 lead
- Lindsey settled back in during the middle innings, limiting further damage and keeping Lynn within striking distance
- Palm Beach Atlantic added an insurance run in the sixth inning following a single and a throwing error, extending the lead to 4-0
- Lynn generated its best scoring chance in the sixth, as
Kylee Dodson singled and
Quinn Lockhart used her speed to steal both second and third, but the Fighting Knights were unable to bring her home

Savannah Ellis led off with a single and
Teagan Riley followed with a double to put runners on second and third with two outs

Aiyana Hicks kept the inning alive with an infield single to load the bases, but Lynn was unable to capitalize as the final out ended the threat
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Riley recorded her seventh double of the season
- Hicks and Dodson each added a hit in the contest
- Lockhart swiped two bases, bringing her season total to 18, which ranks tied for fourth in the SSC
- Lockhart remains perfect on the basepaths this season, going 18-for-18 in stolen base attempts
- Lindsey tossed a complete game, pitching all seven innings and recording four strikeouts
