Clagett’s six-goal performance leads No. 5 Lynn in battle at No. 16 Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Behind a season-high six-goal performance from Elizabeth Clagett, the No. 5 Lynn Fighting Knights fought valiantly but fell to the No. 16 Florida Tech Panthers, 19-15, in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Fighting Knights move to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in SSC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Florida Tech opened the game with five unanswered goals to take a 5-0 lead with 7:15 remaining in the first quarter
- Grayson Lunardi won the ensuing draw control to spark Lynn's attack
- Elizabeth Clagett put the Fighting Knights on the board at the 6:32 mark, cutting the deficit to 5-1
- Rebecca Clark secured the next draw control and earned a free-position opportunity for Lynn
- Clagett continued her strong start, scoring an unassisted goal with 5:13 left in the quarter to make it 5-2
- After a Florida Tech shot hit the post, Clark collected the rebound, led the clear, and scored on the counterattack to trim the deficit to 5-3 with three minutes remaining
- The Panthers regained momentum with another goal to take a 6-3 lead into the second quarter
- Florida Tech struck first in the second period before Clagett completed her hat trick at the 11:09 mark, making it 7-4
- Madison Smith added a free-position goal with five minutes remaining in the half to narrow the gap to 9-5
- Grace Werle collected a ground ball following a Panther turnover to ignite another Lynn attack
- Clagett capitalized on a man-up opportunity in the final minute of the half
- Florida Tech entered halftime with a 13-6 advantage
- Smith opened the third quarter with a goal at the 13:34 mark to make it 13-7
- After a Panther score, Zoe Stewart won the draw control, and Angelia Huggins assisted Clagett for her fourth goal of the game, cutting the deficit to 15-8
- Lynn surged in the fourth quarter scoring three consecutive man-up goals in just 1:21 minutes
Hannah Exley netted two, while Clark added another to make it 15-11
- Ella Timperio converted a free-position attempt with 7:37 remaining to bring the score to 16-12
- Following Florida Tech's 17th goal, Clagett and Timperio scored back-to-back to trim the deficit to 17-14 with four minutes left
- Zoe Stewart added Lynn's final goal, but the Panthers secured the 19-15 victory

FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Clagett recorded a season-high six goals, increasing her season total to 32
- Clark, Smith, Timperio, and Exley each scored two goals
- Goalkeeper Ava Ceglia made two saves
- Freshman Brianna Skiber made her third appearance, playing 30 minutes and recording two saves
- Lynn outshot Florida Tech, 31-30, including a 21-19 advantage in shots on goal
- The Fighting Knights also held an 18-14 edge in ground balls
- Lynn successfully cleared the ball on 16 of 18 attempts
