Lynn drops regular-season finale to Saint Leo at home

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lynn University men's lacrosse team wrapped up its regular season on Wednesday evening, falling to Saint Leo, 15–6, at home. Despite an early man-up goal from Dom Veratti and a late fourth-quarter push, the Fighting Knights were unable to overcome a decisive run by the Lions in the middle quarters. A dominant stretch by Saint Leo in the second and third periods proved to be the difference, allowing the visitors to pull away and secure the regular-season finale.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn came out aggressive early, generating multiple shots during an opening man-up opportunity but was unable to capitalize despite strong pressure
- Dom Veratti broke through midway through the first quarter with a man-up goal, giving Lynn a 1–0 lead
- Saint Leo quickly responded and seized momentum late in the quarter, scoring four unanswered goals to take a 4–1 lead after one
- The Lions extended their advantage early in the second quarter, pushing the margin to 7–1 behind a balanced offensive attack
- Lynn responded with a brief spark, as Cullen Trent and Veratti scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 7–3
- Despite the push, Saint Leo answered late in the half, adding another goal to take an 8–3 lead into halftime
-The third quarter opened with Saint Leo asserting full control, scoring four straight goals in a quick stretch to extend the lead to 12–3
- The Lions continued their run shortly after, building the advantage to 13–3 as faceoff wins and transition play fueled the surge
- Lynn found a late breakthrough in the final seconds of the third quarter, as Veratti netted his third goal of the game off an assist from freshman Ian Evans
- Lynn opened the fourth by winning the faceoff, but an early turnover halted any immediate momentum
- Saint Leo capitalized shortly after, extending its lead to 14–4 with an early goal in the quarter
- The Fighting Knights took advantage of a man-up opportunity, as Mario Leone finished off a feed from Nick Calleri to cut the deficit to 14–5
- Lynn continued to apply pressure and found another breakthrough midway through the quarter, with Connor Zombro scoring to trim the margin to 14–6
- Despite the push, Saint Leo responded once again, regaining control with a late goal to extend the lead to 15–6
- Lynn continued to battle defensively and forced a late turnover, but Saint Leo maintained possession in the final minute to close out the game

- Veratti recorded his sixth hat trick of the season, marking his ninth multi-goal game of 2026
- Veratti leads the Blue and White with 28 goals this season
- Zombro, Trent, and Leone each found the back of the net
- Leone finished as Lynn's second-leading goal scorer this season with 19 goals
- Calleri tallied two assists, bringing his total to four this spring
- Lynn's goalkeepers combined for 17 saves on the night
- Hunter Klosterman made 13 saves, Tristan Lenard added three in eight minutes, and Ke'Von Day recorded one
- The Fighting Knights secured 27 ground balls and won 12 faceoffs
- Lynn forced Saint Leo into 11 turnovers
- The Fighting Knights registered 33 shots, with 16 on target
