LAKELAND, Fla. - The Lynn baseball team earned a Saturday split on the road against Florida Southern, using a dominant offensive performance in Game 1 to secure a 10-1 victory before falling 9-3 in the nightcap. The Fighting Knights jumped out early and controlled the opener behind timely hitting and strong pitching, while the Mocs responded in Game 2 with a decisive third inning that proved to be the difference maker to take the Sunshine State Conference series.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Lynn wasted no time jumping on the board, capitalizing on multiple early miscues to plate four runs in the opening frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Joel Tapia-Melo and an RBI single from Jackson Tyer
- The Fighting Knights continued to apply pressure in the second, manufacturing another run on a sacrifice fly from Jason Lashley to extend the lead to 5-0
- Lynn's pitching staff set the tone early, retiring the side in order in the second and working out of a minor jam in the third with a key double play to keep Florida Southern off the board
- The Blue and White added to the advantage in the fourth as Scout Simpson's aggressiveness on the basepaths forced a throwing error, allowing another run to score and make it 6-0
- Florida Southern broke through in the bottom half of the fourth, taking advantage of a defensive miscue to push across its lone run and cut the deficit to 6-1
- Lynn maintained control through the middle innings behind strong pitching and clean defense, stranding runners and limiting any sustained offensive threat from the Mocs
- The Fighting Knights added insurance in the seventh, as Tyer delivered again with an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-1
- Tapia-Melo continued his big day at the plate in the eighth with another RBI knock, pushing the advantage to 8-1
- Lynn put the finishing touches on the win in the ninth following a rain delay, as Justin Lopez launched a two-run home run to left, capping the scoring at 10-1
- The Blue and White bullpen closed the door in the final frame, stranding two runners to secure the dominant road victory

- Tapia-Melo powered the Lynn offense, finishing 2-for-5 with a game-high three RBI, including a two-run double in the first and an RBI single in the eighth
- Tyer delivered a strong performance at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base
- Simpson paced the lineup with a three-hit day, finishing 3-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base
- Lopez added the exclamation point with a two-run home run in the ninth, finishing with two runs scored and two RBI
- Amaris Harrison reached base three times with a hit and two walks, scoring twice and applying pressure throughout
- Lashley contributed a double, an RBI, and a run scored, while also adding a sacrifice fly
- Ivan Herrera recorded a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a walk and scoring opportunities created
- As a team, the Fighting Knights totaled 13 hits, 10 runs, and 4 walks, scoring in five different innings
- Ryan DiMaggio earned the win with 5.0 innings of work, allowing just one run while striking out three
- Charlie Houd dominated out of the bullpen with 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and striking out two
- Landon Petrisko closed the game with a scoreless ninth, securing the 10-1 victory

- Lynn manufactured an early run in the first inning, taking advantage of a Florida Southern error and a double play ball to plate an unearned run and grab a 1-0 lead
- Florida Southern answered immediately in the bottom half, capitalizing on a throwing error to even the score at 1-1
- The Fighting Knights threatened in the second and third innings, putting runners on and creating traffic, but were unable to deliver a key hit to regain the lead
- The Mocs broke the game open in the third, stringing together hits, walks, and a sacrifice fly to score four runs and take a 5-1 advantage
- Lynn struggled to respond in the middle innings, as Florida Southern pitching limited opportunities and kept the offense off balance
- The Blue and White cut into the deficit in the fifth, as Joel Tapia-Melo delivered an RBI single to bring the score to 5-2
- Florida Southern responded once again in the bottom half, using a pair of hits and a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 7-2
