FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Lynn University baseball team dropped the opening game of its final regular season series on Thursday afternoon, falling 11-3 to Nova Southeastern at the NSU Baseball Complex.
Jason Lashley powered the Fighting Knights offensively with a home run and two RBI, but the Sharks used an early offensive surge and capitalized on multiple Lynn miscues to secure the series-opening victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nova Southeastern jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, using back-to-back doubles and a two-run home run to take a 3-0 advantage
- Lynn answered in the second as
Jason Lashley launched a solo home run to right center, cutting the deficit to 3-1
- Nova Southeastern added another run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1
- The Sharks continued to build momentum in the third with a solo home run and another RBI single to make it 6-1
- Lynn threatened in the fourth after
Scout Simpson singled and Lashley walked, but Nova Southeastern escaped the inning with the bases loaded to maintain the five-run cushion
- Nova Southeastern broke the game open in the fifth, capitalizing on a Lynn throwing error before adding a two-RBI single to push the lead to 9-1
- The Fighting Knights were held scoreless from the third through the seventh innings as Nova Southeastern's pitching staff kept Lynn's offense in check
- Lynn showed signs of life in the eighth inning, as Lashley delivered an RBI single to score

- Nova Southeastern answered immediately in the bottom half, taking advantage of another Lynn throwing error to plate an additional run and extend the margin to 11-2

- Harrison recorded Lynn's lone extra-base hit outside of Lashley's homer, going 1-for-5 with an RBI double in the ninth inning
