Fighting Knights rally twice but fall to Nova Southeastern in 2026 season finale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Lynn University baseball team closed out the 2026 season on Saturday afternoon, dropping an 11-8 decision to Nova Southeastern at the NSU Baseball Complex. The Fighting Knights raced out to a five-run lead early and later battled back to tie the game in the seventh inning, but the Sharks answered with a three-run bottom half to secure the series sweep. Luca Arenado powered the Lynn offense in the finale, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn exploded for four runs in the opening inning, collecting five hits as Jackson Tyer drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk before Cole Beck ripped a two-run double and Luca Arenado added an RBI single to give the Fighting Knights a 4-0 lead
- Mason Tinsley worked around a two-out double in the bottom of the first, striking out two batters to keep Nova Southeastern scoreless
- Lynn added another run in the second inning after Amaris Harrison singled and later scored on a groundout from Tyer, extending the advantage to 5-0
- Nova Southeastern responded in the bottom half, capitalizing on a Lynn throwing error to score two unearned runs and cut the deficit to 5-2
- Justin Lopez and Jorge Romero each recorded singles in the third inning, but the Fighting Knights stranded two runners on base
- Jason Lashley added another hit in the fourth, while Charlie Devito doubled in the fifth as Lynn continued to pressure the Sharks offensively
- Nova Southeastern tied the game in the fifth inning with an RBI double followed by a two-run home run to even the score at 5-5
- Lynn was retired in order in the sixth after Harrison opened the inning with a single
- The Fighting Knights answered in the seventh, loading the bases before Devito drew an RBI walk and Lopez added a run-scoring fielder's choice to tie the game at 7-7
- Nova Southeastern regained control in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run double and an RBI single to move back in front 10-7
- The Sharks added an insurance run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 11-7
- Arenado provided one final spark in the ninth inning, launching a solo home run to left center in the final game of the 2026 season
- Lynn finished the afternoon with 15 hits, including multi-hit performances from Harrison, Lashley, Lopez, and Arenado in the season finale
 
FIGHTING KNIGHT STATS:
- Lynn's offense erupted for four runs in the opening inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Beck and an RBI single from Arenado
- Tyer drove in two runs for the Fighting Knights, including a bases-loaded walk in the first inning and an RBI groundout in the second
- Arenado closed the season with a strong performance, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored
- Harrison collected three hits and scored twice, while Lashley also turned in a three-hit afternoon in the finale
- Lopez added a hit, an RBI, and a stolen base, while Devito contributed a double, an RBI walk, and reached base three times
- Beck recorded Lynn's lone extra-base hit outside of Arenado's homer with a two-run double in the first inning
