Men's tennis claims 15th ITA All-Academic team award, five named scholar-athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Lynn University men's tennis team continued its tradition of academic excellence, earning the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) 2026 Division II All-Academic Team award. The honor marks the 15th time the Fighting Knights have been recognized since the ITA began presenting the award in 2004.

Lynn was one of 70 Division II programs nationwide and one of seven Sunshine State Conference schools to receive the All-Academic Team distinction after meeting the ITA's team academic standards during the 2025-26 academic year.

In addition to the team honor, five Fighting Knights were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes after posting a GPA of at least 3.50 during the academic year. The honorees were Smaran Rangarajan, Filip Avdeev, Davide Cortimiglia, Lennart Ostheimer and Daniel Rila.

To earn ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and be listed on their institution's eligibility form. Teams receiving the ITA All-Academic Team award must post a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher while including all varsity letter winners in the calculation. Across Division II, 548 men's tennis student-athletes earned Scholar-Athlete status, while 70 programs received All-Academic Team honors.
