Muenst, Wagner lead No. 8 Lynn to comeback victory in season opener

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 8 Lynn University men's soccer team rallied from behind twice to earn a dramatic 3-2 victory over No. 10 Mississippi College, securing its first win of the 2026 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Choctaws opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finding the bottom-left corner from approximately 22 yards out for a 1-0 advantage
- The Fighting Knights responded in the 24th minute when Wagner laid the ball off to Muenst, who fired his finish into the top-left corner to level the match at 1-1
- Thiago De Carvalho looked to put Lynn ahead in the 35th minute, but his effort was blocked behind for a corner kick

- The Blue and White continued its aggressive high press after the break despite seeing less of the ball during the opening stages of the second half
- Mississippi College regained the lead in the 61st minute, capitalizing on a Lynn defensive mistake to make it 2-1
- Just four minutes later, Muenst produced the highlight of the match. After a Choctaw player was sent off for a foul outside the penalty area, Muenst curled the ensuing free kick into the net from approximately 25 yards to tie the match at 2-2
- Playing with a man advantage, the Fighting Knights continued to push forward in search of the winner
- Lynn's pressure paid off in the 87th minute. Muenst headed a cross into the path of Rui Ferreira, who found Wagner inside the area before the forward slotted his finish into the bottom-right corner to complete the 3-2 comeback victory
