DAVIE, Fla. - The Lynn University women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 setback to Nova Southeastern in its Sunshine State Conference opener Wednesday evening. The Fighting Knights trailed by just one goal at halftime before the Sharks pulled away with four second-half scores.

Emma Brunelli recorded six saves in goal for Lynn, while Alex Rigg, Elise Holcey and Isabella Humbles led the Fighting Knights with two shots apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Rigg generated Lynn's first scoring opportunity less than two minutes into the match, sending an attempt off target

- Nova Southeastern opened the scoring at 4:21, finding the bottom-left corner to take an early 1-0 advantage 

- Brunelli made back-to-back saves in the 14th and 15th minutes to keep the Sharks from extending their lead 

- Kayla Bradby registered Lynn's first shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the NSU goalkeeper turned away the attempt toward the bottom-left corner 

- Brunelli continued to hold the Sharks at bay, making two more saves in the 19th and 24th minutes 

- Lynn earned its first corner kick in the 34th minute before Brooklyn Steiner forced another save just over a minute later 

- Holcey had an attempt blocked in the 39th minute as the Fighting Knights looked to find an equalizer before the break 

- Nova Southeastern carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime 

- The Sharks doubled their lead at 54:40, finding the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0 

- Nova Southeastern added another goal less than two minutes later at 56:13 to extend its advantage to 3-0 

- Isabella Humbles generated Lynn's first shot of the second half in the 64th minute, but her attempt went off target 

- Brunelli made another save in the 65th minute before the Sharks scored their fourth goal at 66:48 

- Holcey forced the NSU goalkeeper into a save in the 68th minute as Lynn continued to search for its first goal 

- Humbles registered another shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the Sharks turned away the attempt to preserve their shutout

- Nova Southeastern added its fifth goal of the evening at 87:03, finding the bottom center of the net to extend its lead to 5-0

- Rigg generated one final scoring opportunity for Lynn in the 89th minute, but her attempt went off target

- The Fighting Knights were unable to find the back of the net as Nova Southeastern secured the 5-0 victory 

- Brunelli played all 90 minutes in goal, recording six saves 

- Rigg, Holcey and Humbles led Lynn with two shots apiece

- Bradby and Brooklyn Steiner each registered one shot on goal 

- Holcey and Humbles also recorded one shot on goal apiece

- The Fighting Knights finished with eight shots, including four on goal 

- Lynn earned one corner kick and was called offside twice 

- Nova Southeastern outshot Lynn 20-8, including a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal 

- The Sharks held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks
