BOCA RATON, Fla. - Brooklyn Steiner delivered the game-winning goal in the 71st minute as the Lynn University women's soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Spring Hill on Sunday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
Shayla De La Cruz opened the scoring in the first half before Steiner broke a 1-1 deadlock to help the Fighting Knights secure the home victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn began applying pressure early, as
Tessa Abreu put three shots on goal over the opening 18 minutes, but Spring Hill stopped all three attempts

Emma Brunelli answered at the other end with her first save in the 20th minute before adding two more stops over the next eight minutes
- The Fighting Knights finally broke through in the 35th minute when De La Cruz buried a right-footed shot into the top-left corner to give Lynn a 1-0 lead
- Abreu and
Elise Holcey collected assists on De La Cruz's goal
- The Fighting Knights carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime after outshooting the Badgers 12-4 in the opening 45 minutes
- Lynn remained on the attack following the break, generating a pair of corner kicks during the opening 12 minutes of the second half
- Spring Hill found the equalizer at 58:23 to even the match at 1-1
- The Fighting Knights responded with chances from Steiner and De La Cruz, but the Badgers stopped both attempts
- Lynn regained the lead in the 71st minute when Steiner found the top-left corner for her first goal of the afternoon, putting the Fighting Knights back in front, 2-1
- Holcey picked up her second assist of the match on the game-winner, while Juliana Torres also earned an assist
- Spring Hill threatened late, but Brunelli came up with three saves over the final 21 minutes to preserve Lynn's one-goal advantage
- The Fighting Knights held off the Badgers over the closing minutes to secure the 2-1 victory
