Michael Baez

Mike Baez is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Lynn University men’s basketball program.
 
Baez is a former Fighting Knights basketball player, where during his junior season, he averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game. As a senior, he increased those averages to 18.9 points and six rebounds per contest while reaching the 1,000 points scored plateau for his collegiate career and leading the team to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
 
At Lynn, Baez was chosen as a member of the All-South Region Second Team, the All-SSC First Team, and the NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team. Twice Baez was named the SSC Player of the Week and he holds the single-season record for free throws made with 161.
 
In 2018-19, Baez was named college basketball’s Exhibition Player of the Week after scoring 21 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in Lynn’s 92-87 win over FAU.
 
Prior to beginning his career as a Fighting Knight, Baez played for Wingate University. During his time with the Bulldogs, he was selected as a member of the South Atlantic Conference First Team and the All-NCAA Tournament Team.
 
He was a three-time SAC Player of the Week, named to the All-Freshman Team and finished as the runner-up in the Freshman of the Year voting. He twice helped the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32.
 
After his playing days at Lynn, Baez played professionally in the Dominican Republic, where he was a third overall draft pick of Club Bameso. He played in both the TBS and LNB leagues and averaged 14.7 ppg and 6.4 rpg during his time as a professional. He also played in Spain, Egypt and Canada.
 
Baez's most recent stint before joining the Fighting Knights was as the head coach of the boys team at Saint Andrews High School.
 
Baez earned his bachelors degree in sports management (Cum Laude) from Lynn in 2019 and graduated with his masters degree in sports marketing leadership and management from Lynn in 2021.
